THE LORE
The Weavers' Guild of Waterdeep perfected this blend by combining indigo woad from the Moonsea coast with goldenroot blossoms harvested near Arabel. It's a dyer's masterwork, requiring months of careful steeping and precise temperature control. Nobles and wealthy merchants commission pieces in this combination, drawn by the brightness of the gold and the cool dignity of the blue.
THE PALETTE
A harmonious dual-tone dwelling in the bright spectrum. Cloth displays a medium sky-blue primary with warm golden accents, luminous and clean. Leather claims the rich gold, warm and inviting under candlelight. Metal emerges as burnished copper, catching the light with gentle warmth. On fine silk the effect shimmers with subtle radiance. On leather it carries regal weight and dignity. On plate armor it speaks of ceremony and formal occasion, colors refined enough to announce their wearer's standing.
THE CHRONICLE
T
The merchant's daughter stood in the Weaver's shop on Waterdeep's Mermaid Lane, tracing her fingers across the bolt of wool dyed in baby blue and gold. Six months her father had saved for this commission, and the dyer had promised completion before the Harbormaster's Feast. She could already imagine the doublet, the way the blue would deepen in candlelight while the gold caught every spark like starlight held captive in thread. The dyer emerged from the back room, steam rising from his kettle, the workshop thick with the smell of indigo and goldbloom. He nodded at her question without speaking, understanding without words the weight of expectation that hung upon those colors. Two weeks before the Feast, a storm shattered three merchant vessels off the coast. Amongst the salvage, a noble's wardrobe washed ashore, its finest doublet soaked through with seawater. The same Weaver's Guild that had created the blue-and-gold took the commission for repairs, and in their hands, the faded colors came back slowly, fiber by fiber, a resurrection of what the sea had nearly claimed. The merchant's daughter attended the Feast in her new doublet, but it was the noble who caught eyes in the restored one. Some whispered it was the colors themselves that made the difference, not knowing the story of recovery stitched into every seam...
