THE LORE
Deep lilac represents the apex of the dyer's craft in Neverwinter, produced by a jealously guarded collective that combines indigo bases with crushed lilac petals and rare madder roots grown only in southern gardens. The resulting color shimmers with complexity, different in candlelight than in daylight. Wizards, wealthy merchants, and those with connections to the Harbormaster's office often wear it.
THE PALETTE
A richly complex palette spanning mystery and warmth. Cloth primary is deep plum-purple, mysterious and contemplative. Secondary cloth glows with warm golden-orange, like candlelit honey. Tertiary cloth brightens further to golden-amber, almost luminous and bold. Leather settles to warm dark brown, providing grounding. Metal primary gleams with warm-toned bronze, catching light with subtlety. Secondary bronze brightens further, more assertive and bright. The overall effect feels theatrical and refined, almost alchemical in the way the colors seem to shift and deepen with the angle of light and the quality of one's gaze.
THE CHRONICLE
T
The wizard's apprentice stood in the dyer's atelier as the master prepared his colors, explaining the theory behind the combination. Deep lilac wasn't merely aesthetic, he explained; the proportions of indigo to madder altered how the wearer's connection to the Weave resonated. Purple spoke to mystery, but too much tipped toward pretense. The golden secondary tones grounded the magic, made it accessible. It was the kind of precise thinking that separated true craftspeople from those who merely followed recipes. When the robe was finished, the apprentice's master, a circle mage with standing in the Tower, examined it with genuine approval. He'd commissioned three such robes over his career, marking moments of advancement and deepened understanding. The first had been when he finished his formal training. The second when he'd published his research on Weave harmonics. This third marked his ascension to the circle's inner council. As he draped it over his shoulders, the deep purples seemed to deepen further in the tower's candlelight, and the golden undertones caught and held the spell-glow of his lab. Younger mages would ask where he'd commissioned the work, but he always demurred, naming only the dyer in Neverwinter with sufficient skill. Over the years, five more apprentices sought out that master dyer, each at pivotal moments in their magical studies. The atelier became known, quietly, as the place where ambition and craftsmanship aligned, where the colors you wore announced that you understood magic as an art requiring patience and precision...
